Converter vs actual exchange rate: the difference
This converter shows the mid-market price — the midpoint between buy and sell prices across major exchanges. It is the same rate shown on CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap. When you execute an actual exchange on CryptoSwapPro, the rate is the best available from our 30+ liquidity sources minus our 0.1% flat fee. On major pairs like BTC/USDT, our execution rate is typically within 0.05–0.1% of the mid-market price shown here.
What affects cryptocurrency exchange rates
Supply and demand
Every price is the result of the last matched buy and sell order. More buyers than sellers → price rises. More sellers than buyers → price falls. This happens across hundreds of exchanges simultaneously, 24/7.
Liquidity and volume
High-volume pairs like BTC/USDT have spreads of 0.01% or less. Low-volume pairs (small altcoin / BTC) can have spreads of 1–3%. The converter shows mid-market — the actual execution price may differ on illiquid pairs.
Bitcoin dominance effect
Most altcoins correlate with Bitcoin. When BTC moves significantly, most coins move the same direction. Cross-pair rates (altcoin to altcoin) are affected by both coins' independent movements simultaneously.
Time of day
Liquidity peaks during US and Asian trading hours (roughly 8am–6pm UTC). Spreads widen slightly in low-volume windows. For large conversions, executing during peak hours typically improves the rate you receive.
